Sweet saw my youtube video linked on 9to5mac. Figure I'll post it here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ6zvhlse5o
Runs great on MBP specs in sig, v-sync to prevent any screen tearing which I noticed when it was hitting 120+ FPS. Sync'd to 60 with triple buffer, looks smooth as eggs.
I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
Not sure if the promo is still on, if you're in the US, Bestbuy.com had Portal 2 for $35 for PC/Mac. If not just wait for the PS3 owners to toss up their Steam codes on eBay for cheap.

I completely agree with Tomorrow on this, but I'll take it a step further. If someone is as stupid as this woman seems, they don't deserve to be in the gene pool. Christ, too bad the guy didn't shake the car and wipe this imbecile off the face of the earth. Yeah I know I'm a horrible person, and talking like an idiot, so on and so forth. Sorry I'm not be some bleeding heart who says, "Oh I feel so bad for this poor poor abused woman. Her husband deserves to burn, for this heinous act of abuse. He should have stopped for her, it was his responsibility, she was just trying to rescue their marriage by not lettig him run off, she just wanted to work things out." Cry me a river:rolleyes: It's the wife's own fault, for being an idiot and chasing after her husband (who was obviously trying to get away from his insane wife) and jumping on the roof of the car. I sure as hell wouldn't vote to find him guilty, unless it meant wiping his idiotic face off of the earth too.
The point is that people who demonstrate extreme stupidity (in this case both the wife and the husband, who's an idiot for not trying to shake her off) don't deserve to see another day in which they can create stupid children.

Many folks on this forum seem to use and rely on iDVD. I'm in that group.
I know that the world is much larger than this forum, and therefore the percentage of iDVD users to all Mac users is in fact very small. But...
If Apple does drop iDVD it will be another example of blantant disregard for customer's requests.
This may be obvious for many, but for me, it will be the final confirmation that Apple has moved on from the "digital hub" strategy of 1998 - 2007.
Remember when they made all this cool software to help sell Macs? With iPhone and iPad success this is simply not required any more.
I dont think this is right - they're not moving away from the digital hub, they're recreating a different digital hub - Apple isn't necessarily thinking how do we facilitate the creation of dvds so people can make home videos and share them with friends - they're going to the root - what's the best way of distributing videos - right now, upload to the internet is much faster and much more widely used then DVD burning.
Don't forget that in 1998 they dropped the floppy and people had the same attitude you do now. It's great being an Apple customer, they are on the frontline of new technology but they do drop fading technology first too. Pretty soon the usb drive itself will be dropped from the macs as well - what will be the alternative? idk - for flash drives maybe phones will be portable flashdrives connected through wifi or something - by the time they get rid of the superdrive all apple software will be either download or usb stick - no need - people will complain - 7 years later compaq computers wont have them either and we'll be laughing at them for finally catching up although they will then be behind. I have nothing against iDVD but like i said earlier it wont disappear, support will still be available for 3 years or so and iDVD will not disappear from your apps.
Anyway my point is i don't think apple is ignoring their user base - Steve Jobs said at one point "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."
In other words, they might be replacing the software with something that does that job better, and the job is not creating DVDs, the job is distributing media in a beautiful way - maybe we will see the an app in iLife that was rumored before about making something like the Movie extras, with menus and other content - similar to iDVD but then its to upload or stick somewhere else or on your apple tv or on your iphone or ipad - i don't know, i don't work for apple - that's why i pay them, to think for me and show me what i want, cause i don't know. I have ideas as to where things might end up but i really don't know for sure.
My 2 cents.

Only one problem with their people tracker system: a person can only be tracked while they are wearing their Nike running shoes. I run and I, like many other runners, only wear my running shoes while I run. They live in the closet otherwise.
To reiterate what others have said, they are making nothing into something to gain attention.

December is a little late... considering a fair amount of the consuming proleteriat does their shopping on Thanksgiving weekend for Christmas
Well, we don't have a Thanksgiving weekend down here so it wouldn't matter for us. Nor do they have one in Europe or Asia. It's just the US/Canada that do Thanksgiving and even those are on different weekends.
Anytime before Christmas would be cool so long as it's not going to replace the whole iPod lineup because I'm damn sure I'm getting a 5.5G for my birthday in about 5 weeks time.

I would hardly call putting a PDF through some crappy-made Adobe iOS app on iPad, you might as well just sell the PDF using Paypal from their website.

Look at the British empire, once the most powerful empire in the world. Now I'm a second class citizen in my own country, where my government doesn't care about us, and we are laughed at by the rest of the world. Welcome to England your royal highness.

It will probably work the way Amazon's new service does. Only the music you purchase moving forward can be synced in the cloud.
Umm that's not how Amazon's service works.
Amazon lets you sync up your own stuff (with certain gigabyte limits) and you get unlimited sync of anything purchased from their store.

Most people who buy Macs are somewhat creative. With a Celeron processor, you can't be very creative...

Can i just mention something??
I'm a musician and am very well acquainted with notation software such as sibelius 4 and Finale. What on earth would be the point in having a piano keyboard interface?? The range can't really be more than an octave, which is rather useless when writing... And even then, just to use it as an imput method would be so much slower then just typing the names of notes. Now one can press the letter 'a' and an A (the note) will be displayed. When using such software, it's not the note imput that takes the time, it's the changing of note values, and adding instructions and markings to the score. for this, the piano keyboard would be useless. What, so every time you want to write a new italian tempo marking, you have to switch to a keyboard?? sucks.
Oh, and some people may say that it could midi record and notate what you play... but this rarely works well and even then you're stuck with the range of probs just over an octave.
Thoughts welcome.

And Jones is out already! 350 is looking more and more like a target to aim for. As for the food/drinks I think that they still get stuck into whatever they want. I seem to remember Flintoff saying he was eating loads of crisps to calm his nerves at the end of one of the tests!
Edit to add: also Warne said this (I'm sure with some sarcasm) about his performance yesterday "It shows what a fit athlete can do". I'm sure some of you remember him storming out of a press conference when he was called fat :D
We didn't want to lose Jones so early, they need to play real smart now to stay in for a couple of hours. 350 is deffo realistic.
BBC report said Warne 'quipped' about 'what a fit athlete can do' so sarcasm was there. Pretty funny. He's hardly a marathon runner but to bowl as much as he does still takes it out of you, though I don't think he could be a pace bowler. It's funny how close 'fit' and 'fat' are in written terms :D

I know that it's just speculation at this point, but I'm curious what any of you think about which, if any, of the following will be "uploadable" into Apple's cloud:
emo love hands.
love, heart, emo, goth,
Heart themes include: emo; Emo Love Heart. Emo+love+heart+cartoon; Emo+love+heart+cartoon
Bleeding Love, Emo Love
Emo+love+heart+drawings
emo i love you quotes

Now, instead of Oct. 31, Amazon states that they will be "In stock soon." And if you click on the "used & new" link, you seemingly get more detail that they won't be released until the end of the year:

I think the $999 iMac will be made available to the public at some point, just like the eMac was.
I can't see a $399 Core Duo mini for a while though.... Maybe a 1.6 GHz Core Solo version...
BYeah, Apple needs to make the Mac mini more lucrative. If the $999 iMac ever shows up I expect a price drop on the educational variant. Well Apple should drop the price..

So 1 in 20 people who have a cellphone have an iPhone. Not bad at all.
The amazing part is how many models the companies above them (and below them) are selling to get to where they are.
Not quite.
It means 1 in 20 of the mobile phones sold in the last quarter were iPhones.

I saw this on 9to5mac and it does work, ordered the ram on saturday from amazon and it works.
What RAM did you use? I tried to swap my memory (same specs) from my Mac mini (8GB) into my MBP and I just got the three beeps of death when I tried to turn it on. Does it have to be a specific brand and/or spec?

Whoa. That's around 8 minutes of commentary about the issue. It's plain to see that Jon is secretly in love with Apple.
If that analogy holds true, then he is basically Rupert Murdoch's golf buddy? And his most favorite dinner guest is Sarah Palin?

She is on the hood, and you are prevented from moving.
What the Hell do you call that??A problem. He should have called the police if there was no other way to extricate himself. Driving at 100mph with someone clinging to the front of the car is simply not an acceptable option.
Both should be thrown in jail and left to rot.Again, he should have called the police. What should she be charged with? Is she or is she not the victim of attempted murder?

jon stewart, or should i say Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz, is not funny and is an unintelligent, illogical, emotional child. anything funny he says on his show is no doubt written by a team of young writers. he is famous for being a clown.

Great, just what I wanted from Outlook. Overall, this has been Microsoft's best Office for Mac suite, really no complaints.
At least almost no complains - still get fairly often the beach ball when using outlook, every other week a crash and at times extrem slow, at other times its just fine. (It's the only application on my app that is behaving that way, so don't think it's anything with my system) - but overall fairly happy and some hope that SP1 fixes some of the stuff.
Hope the update also fixes that you manually have to close the update application in order to do the update (I like to start updates before I leave the house and have a happy system when I come back, not a system that waits for one mouse click and than still needs forever to be updated)
forgive my ignorance but is this a re-release? what's the difference between this and what they released back in OCT?
SP (Service Pack) is Microsoft language for "collection of bug fixes" - not a new version, only fix of broken things
