so if you computer crashes you left with nothing.. again why they should discount this.
No - Your Steam games can be downloaded whenever you like to whatever computer you are using.
So, if your Mac crashes and you wipe the HDD, you reinstall Steam and re-download for free.
Or, if you migrate to a Windows box, reinstall Steam and re-download for free.
Buy once, play anywhere.

Hmm...I'm so glad I waited! Looks like I'll be saving up for one! Now I'll have all three consoles! WOOT! :D
But really, which would you go with: PS3 with Blu-ray and any kind of hard drive, or a 360 with proprietary hard drive? Personally, I'd go with a PS3.
Can you actually switch the internal PS3 harddrive without voiding your warranty?
Personally I like the attachment-style interface for the 360 HDD better (simpler solution).

The latest is that Leopard and iWork will be released in June.
iWork is supposedly called iWork Leopard instead of 2007.
We shall see...

Less than 50% the performance, not that hard to figure out. :p :D
Single threaded performance is almost the same (2.3 vs. 2.5), the Quad shows its performance in multithreaded apps, though.
However, even though you might not necessarily run applications that can fully utilise all 4 available cores, I believe that the Quad will do better even in everyday tasks.
The jump from 2 to 4 cores is definitely noticeable as most people run a lot of apps simultaneously and the 2 additional cores distribute the load.
A single G5 core gets loaded pretty quick (web browses can easily max out a core, which doesn't leave much room for additional tasks).
I see your point, though. The LCS is kind of a deal breaker if you're not too tech savvy and can't replace the pumps/hoses.
You see.. herein lies the problem.. If I would have held on to my Quad G5, I would never have been able to afford the Mac Pro.. looking now at what I currently use my mac pro for I am starting to wonder if I really needed to have it in the first place.
I only got it because I wanted a nice Intel Machine for my modern stuff(handbrake, dvd encoding, dvd ripping, burning two dvds/cd's simultaneously).. And most of my everyday stuff I do is done on my PB G4 1.67 which I acquired almost brand new from someone.
I guess its a tough decision for me to consider getting back the G5 Quad and also having the 2010 Mac Pro, since I will never utilize the full potential of that machine.. video editing doesn't interest me, yet there has to be some way I can get real benefit out of the 6-core machine.. It originally was a 2009 mac pro w3580 3.33 quad-core, but then I had to have the latest and greatest, so for 300 dollars got the 2010 backplane board and processor board.
Then in December, got the 6-core processor for like 700 dollars.. Now looking back I am sort of at a tough decision.
I really didn't want to sell off my MDD and G5 Quad, but realizing 3 years ago at the time that I would never have been able to afford an intel mac, other than the mac mini, I wanted something with expandability as those are the type of machines I am used to. I don't foresee getting the 2012 mac pro when it comes out since I have no use for such power..
Thunderbolt won't help me with time machine or cloning using carbon copy cloner, so its a waste for me.
Sorry if I went off topic a little, just trying to decide if I wanted to get a Quad G5 myself once again or not.

it did. people stopped freaking out, and nobody's complained since... total non issue.
I think that's false. I also think that the antenna issue is brought up every time Apple news hits the press in relation to iPhone stories, stock prices, etc.
One of the first things people sought to find out when the Verizon iPhone was released was whether or not it had an antenna issue.
Damage done.
When the new iPhone is released - the issue will rear its ugly head again. If it's "solved" people will say that Apple fixed this "non issue". If it's not fixed, Consumer reports will once again not recommend the phone and there will be a slew of articles no doubt.
So I disagree.

Even though I dont have a 360 any more I'm tempted to get it just for all the pc hacks that are coming out for it I really dint think it would be so big mod wise as its has been here's a few hacks.

You don't need location services (tracking) turned on to use GPS functions. ;)
Somehow I knew someone would say that. I nearly edited my post when I realized it was incomplete, but I guess I'll put it here:
You need location services for many, many "cool" features of any smartphone. Finding restaurants, gas stations, etc. through countless apps. Not to mention all the social networking crap the kids are doing these days.
Not to mention finding yourself on the map.

$480 elite + $100 wireless + $200 HD-DVD drive = $780 for the full 360 experience.
I didn't add the HD-DVD to my calculations in the post above yours because it's technically not needed to play games. That's why it'll be a tough choice for the consumer. You can spend just $20 more to get something that plays games and functions as an HD movie player. Adding an HD-DVD drive obviously tilts the scale well into the PS3s favor.
MS could be stomping Sony right now if they were willing to lose as much money per console sold. I would guess that decreased manufacture costs have MS making a respectable amount from each console sold. And then of course it's "rape time" on the accessories.

Ok, see that is where I was going with posting this article. I was wondering if it were even possible to hold on to a windshield wiper blade for that length of time? I mean, wouldn't pressure or force or something cause the blade to snap? They just don't seem that strong.
I can see a windshield wiper company hiring this woman to do a commercial promoting their blade durability. Whether it's money or dirt, either way she'll be rolling in it :)

These ******s are just stupid. Destroying every new gadget that comes out because they are high school dropouts with no income source... I hope they try blending butane tanks next. That would make my day!
Blending expensive gadgets and having a globally famous marketing exercise make this a ridiculous statement!

Lol. Somebody didn't have the built in spell-checker turned on.
The iPhone will have to be very innovative to be a hit. Seeing that mockup posted awhile back, I'm not particularly excited. What will make it better then any other music phone out there? If anyone can do it, Apple can.

Will it auto start?
Maybe in your dreams... this "live broadcast" should start about an hour or two after the event is over. AND most likely you're going to have to close down that quicktime window and start a new one.

What is iLife 07 gonna do that you can't get in 06.
If you think like this, then there'd be no point to releasing iLife '07, no would there? :p

Wait a minute...I think I see your problem. Just click once on you document folder and it will open very quickly.
what you are doing is simulating a right click (Click and hold the button down). this will bring up a Start menu-like interface).. I think if you right click this will happen instantly, too.... (or maybe it's option-click...I'm not on my mac at the moment, unfortunately). There is SUPPOSED to be a delay when you click and hold like that.
I've never seen Finder slow... and I'm on the same machine as you are.
(of course I may have completely misread this and be totally wrong, in which case I would ask what apps you have open, how much memory is on the machine, etc.)
Nevertheless, if one user is using the dock this way (and a Mac user at that), that means there are many others out there. And that means that a lifetime windows user going to the Apple Store and using a Mac for the first time is going to try to use the dock this way. They are going to click on the leftmost icon on the Dock, the Finder icon, expecting it to work just like the Start menu.
Maybe now that Apple trackpads have 2-finger right click, this feature of the dock should just be disabled by default if OS X detects that you are using a MacBook/Pro, or have a mouse plugged in that has a right mouse button.

There's people still happy to go for a 3GS even today over the 4 so what is people's problem that some will still want to go for a 4 when the 5 is out albeit in white and 10 months late? FFS, shut up and quit your moaning.
