I have a question; my girlfriend came to the US with a tourist visa in 2002 (now her visa is expired), so now I guess she is an ilegal alien, my question is: Is there anyway she can become a legal resident?

Is the renewal form I-131? Isn't it same as applying for FRESH AP??
No where on the form we indicate that this is a RENEWAL??

I had breakfast today with a few advocates and an Obama Administration official who noted that the immigration summit will now be held on June 25th. Encouraging. I also learned that the current expectation is that the immigration reform bill will likely start in the Senate and that Senator Reid is hoping for reform legislation to be considered in the fall.

I received an email from USCIS on my I-485 - 08/03/09.
It said "Card Production Ordered"

My friend is in H1. she is in bench since oct 2008. she had only one project for 2 months in 2009. but her employer is paying her also in bench, though the salary is less compared to what she was earning while on project. now her h1 is expiring in july 2010. now she is planning to use her EAD. but with EAD also she will be with the same employer(consulting firm). she is planning to visit India in may for one month and will be entering US with advance parole, not h1 visa. my question is that as she is in bench for so long time( though getting salary), will it be a problem for her to be back in USA. Is there a chance that she will be asked to go back from Airport as is happening with h1 holders.

My 485/EAD checks got encashed today. My questions is do I need I-140 before FP or EAD card.

This reporter has got it right. The U.S. is obsessed with importing poverty from poor non-assimilated immigrants (mostly illegal) and shunning high-skilled immigrants who assimilate and increase the country's living standards. Hello,
Will there be any problem if there is any address overlap in the addresses given for the last 5 years and outside US address for more than a year.
In my 485 application, dates of India address is overlapping with US address for 1 year. Will it be a problem, if it is how to correct it since my application was already sent?

If your company is having layoff they cannot start new GC labour. But it has nothing to do with 485. And as in your case it doesn't stop the processing.;)

My employer(hospital)filed for the PERM processing and paid the fees for it.It was subsequently approved with an audit.I filed for the I-140 in May 2008.The lawyer who was recommended by the employer did not give me the receipt number,nor the receipt.I was just told that it is pending approval.What are other people's experiences do you usually get a copy of the receipt?I was expecting to get it as I paid for the I-140 filing?I just want it so that I can keep tracking it on the uscis website.

My current H1 is valid for 8 more months and I will have 1 more year after that to finish my initial 6 years, that gives me about 1 year 8 months before I exhaust the 6 year limit.
My question is if I change jobs and an H1 transfer is requested right now....will the transferrred H1 be valid for only 8 months ? or will I get a new I797 with 20 months validity? Help if some one knowledgeable about the issue would comment

if you have EAD, alien # is same as A# on the EAD card. otherwise i think you should fill NA or none (check instructions page,for blank, what you need to fill).

I think not appearing for the interview was a mistake! Hopefully it was not a mistake that costs him too much, though. Who is the consultant, exactly?
