Coincidentally, Newegg just launched a shell shocker for a 8GB (2 x 4GB) kit of Corsair RAM for $69.99 free shipping. Corsair is one of the major brands along with Kingston, Crucial, etc. There seem to be a few negative reviews for dead sticks on this particular product, however the RAM comes with plenty of warranties (30-day Newegg and Lifetime Corsair), so it should be fine to take the deal and just run Memtest for a while once you install it to make sure you didn't get any defective sticks.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233081
This deal will only last for a few more hours, then it's up (10am PST).

And I'm in the UK, so i'm not sure about legal information.
Then you dont have to give it up. Period. I'm in the UK as well, and Ive been hauled up about my habit of having a laptop with me right the way thru secondary school + sixth form(2003-2010 if anyone wants a timeframe). I just told them its worth too much to give up, and if they want they can send me home. Otherwise Im not going to let them take it, and if they think its a threat, the only place its going is with me, home. They can't force you to give it up under UK law. :D (As in just hold onto it, they cant pull it from you, they cant lay their hands on you, unless they fancy a nice little media storm, since it cant be construed as a dangerous weapon)
Also, if they continue to moan about his "network" then firstly point out you werent doing it, as the Airport card was deactivated, and then next time take a really old (Like PowerBook 1400 era - ie 1996) Laptop and let them haul you up about that under "hacking" - then point out it cant as it doesnt actually have any networking ports at all :D (After I pulled that one I was left alone by IT for the last 3 years of secondary school)
Oh and also ask why they didnt take everybody's phones on entry to the school, since just about any smartphone can do as much damage as any laptop to their network (Most phones, especially Android ones certainly could be loaded with hacking tools... )

How can Apple design a phone that will make it impossible for a 13 year old to scream into while driving her SUV?? I think you might be putting too much pressure on Apple there. Maybe a shock collar that can detect the high pitched squeal of an adolescent teenage girl...hooked into the ignition of the car so when it detects the girls voice and the engine engaged at the same time.....zzzzzzztttttttt!!!!! Ok that went way to far. Apple can make a cool phone...but it is still up to the people not to be idiots while using them.
If a 13 year old girl is driving an SUV we have a larger problem than her phone!

I love these commercials. Amazing advertising, right? I bet all of you know what kind of blender you are going to want next time you are rocking yours back n forth when it struggles to crush ice next time.
I know I would like to have one of these.

You really think apple is going to let you store music that you didn't buy from them for free? My guess is all music purchased from iTunes can be streamed, and mobile me users can upload theirs.
I hope this isn't just for music though. In mobile me you can upload photos which is nice. I would love to see this done for movies. I buy a movie from apple and can forever stream through my apple tv or iDevice. Or a monthly renting plan.
I want my media to take up less space, be easily accessible, and priced fairly.
Two possibilities:
This service must be part of MobileMe to further push Apple's sync services
MobileMe will go down to $30/year or so.
Apple can fill the rest of the cost with tiny fees from Music Industry, iAds etc. Apple can even make everything free if iAds are placed in MobileMe etc.

Bad move...
Obviously, there is huge demand for cheaper Macs. Cheap doesn't equal bad!
Mac minis should start at $399
iMacs should start at $899
MacBooks should start at $799
MacBook Pros should start at $1499
Mac Pros should start at $1499
There is no reason this wouldn't work.
I think a much more reasonable price point would be
Mac Minis at $499
iMacs at $999
MacBooks at $999
MacBook Pros at $1499
Mac Pros at $1499

I'm at work so this is from memory...
1) 2009 Macpro 8 core 2.66mhz
6 gigs of ram, Mac OSX 10.6.4
40-50k ppd running -bigadv
2)home built rig in server box
i7 980x at stock speed
12 gigs of ram, Ubuntu Linux
?? ppd standard a3 units
this is the one that will get windows and a gtx 480 so it can run -bigadv + gpu
3)home built rig in server box
i7 920 at stock speed
6 gigs ram, Win 7
??ppd standard wu
2x gtx 275 gpu 7k ppd each
1x gt 260 gpu 4k ppd
4)home built rig in server box
AMD cpu 6 gigs ram, win 7
??ppd standard wu
2x gtx 275 gpu 7k ppd each
1x gt 260 gpu 4k ppd
man you could be getting a lot more PPD if you overclocked the 2 home built i7 machines. of course windows is where the bigadv units are right now, so that's where the points are.
i am curious, what do you do when you get a new video card or processor, with the old one? in other words, do you use the old stuff, or just take it out and let it sit around?
that's the hardest issue i have with upgrading. i'd love to upgrade my system to a 6-core, but then i'd have my 4-core just sitting there

Problems!!!!
Aghh SO as soon as I downloaded it I got up on Bonjour (my mom just bought her MacBook) and I was going to show her the video chat through Bonjour, well after I connected to iChat it dissconnected me and her from Bonjour?? Anyone else having bonjour problems? It might be something else but seeing as it happened right after the update it makes me question...

It looks pretty nice. The clip feature is definitely handy to have, especially with something that small in size.
However as nice as it is, if I had the choice right now between the 2, I would buy the old iPod Shuffle instead. Not just because I like the look of the old one better, but also the size and ability to use it as a flash drive.

Personally, I haven't heard much about system failures beyond the launch systems. It's unlikely more of launch systems failed then didn't. I have a launch system myself, and the majority of 360 owners have not had problems.
There have been quite a few red ring of death posts and articles around the net even within the last few months. The problems are still there.
Me. :(
Bought my system Nov06...manufacture date of May06.
Died 3 weeks ago, sent for repairs, got it back in 6 days. :o
I hope it doesn't crap out again before the warranty's up otherwise I'm going to be very very pissed off. :p :D

If this is indeed the new iCal i will be happy, just open up the old ical next to that picture then you will see what i mean.
Other than the movement of the search, day/week/month buttons and a move from the brushed metal to a more even grey I cant really see any differences....I am however basing this off screenshots on the Apple site as I dont have my MBP here atm.

I wonder, in this process, how many FTE are going to be dedicated to receiving and aggregating this dayda. Or if the app development itself signaled the end like has been mentioned. I'd be nice to receive something as a followup; maybe a post card from ATT.
Agreed...ATT should be able to send me a simple email (not text) stating something like "the area you reported has been reported 981 other times and we plan to have coverage there within 4 months."
Something more personable than "we got your feedback" which is all the app fires back at you.
Heck, do they even have a webpage that shows areas that are "coming soon" with newer/better service? Obviously internally they know what they plan on doing/fixing in 2010...would be nice to promote a bit of that. Even something more general like "we plan to put 19 more towers in CT, 21 in MA, 12 in NY" or counties within the States.
I care about the massive dead zones in New England...specifically CT.
If ATT truly utilizes this app, the app is priceless...it's fantastic and instant feedback. I would never call 611 and wait for a human and explain my story (and wonder if they are even listening).

Despite what some are posting here, I feel Apple will wait until the new year to address any new iPod/iPhone/etc.
Why? Because they can.
Apple is one of the few companies than can afford to wait out the holiday season with their current offerings - knowing people who just bought the new iPod video redux will ALSO buy the next gen iPod video once they see how cool it is (it will definitely be more than a brighter screen and some lame additional features).
Honestly, I don't know. It just seems that in the past, Apple waited to hit us in the pocketbooks until AFTER the holiday shopping season. While MWSF seems the place for such an announcement, I'm not sure they would want to feature a new iPod video their iTV, OS 10.5, an iPhone etc. all at MWSF. Seems a lot.

Let's see, I have a few dozen things I'd like to see:
- (S)FTP-mountable volumes that you can WRITE to.
- Faster spotlight. I really wouldn't mind, but they got me believing it'd be "instant", and really it's just "fast" right now.
- A "calculate folder sizes" in the finder that acutally applies to all windows.
- A few more display options for files in finder. That "Group By People" one in Spotlight is kinda clever. A large tile mode would be good.
- Folders in the Finder that hint about what's inside. LIke a folder full o' word docs would have a word doc icon imposed on the folder.
- A whole new Label system that is A) Not ugly and B) color customizable
- A new dock, or at least a new dock feature! Or, at least avoiding the situation where an item dragged to the trash accidently gets a permanent home on the dock instead. The dock is, like, 10.1 technology
- resolution independence, of course. I want to zoom out a bit.
- an optional grey, translucent layer below the current app that makes all background windows a bit more in the background. I get confused if I can't see the traffic lights.
